Paddle Siesta Key and to Midnight Pass!
Duration
2.5
About
Launch right from Turtle Beach on Siesta Key and paddle the calm, protected waters of Little Sarasota Bay — including Midnight Pass, the historic inlet recently reopened by Hurricane Helene and Milton after being closed for over 40 years.
Choose a kayak or paddleboard, get a quick orientation and trail map from our team, and explore at your own pace. The route from Turtle Beach takes you through shaded mangrove tunnels, past the Jim Neville Marine Preserve, and down to Palmer Point Beach at Midnight Pass — one of the most secluded white-sand beaches on Siesta Key, littered with shells (great for collectors!).
Watch for manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, rays, and wading birds along the way. Pull up on a quiet sandbar, swim at the pass, or simply paddle and take it in. This is the same launch point used by guided tours, but on a rental you set the pace and the route.
We offer single and double kayak rentals as well as stand up paddleboards and surfboard rentals at this location. The kayaks and paddleboards are perfect to explore the beautiful surrounding waterways. Don't worry about getting lost---we will supply you a map and give you some pointers about the area and where to go paddle to have a good chance of seeing wildlife.
All equipment comes with the necessary safety equipment. First-time paddlers or those new to the area may prefer our guided tour for a naturalist-led experience.
What makes it unique
*Direct access to Midnight Pass — one of Sarasota's most talked-about natural areas, recently reopened after 40+ years closed
*Launch right from the beach — no trailering, no shuttling, no boat ramp lines
*Choose your craft — single kayak, tandem kayak, or stand-up paddleboard
* Self-guided freedom — paddle to Palmer Point Beach, explore mangrove tunnels, or paddle the entire Jim Neville Preserve
* Family-friendly waters — protected bay paddling, suitable for beginners and kids with adults
