About
On-water training is based on the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) curriculum. This combined course will cover the 4 modules in the curriculum. **This class is designed for 2 students to one instructor.** *We can accommodate 4 students per class but the class will be across 2 days, please contact us for booking.*
- Module 1 - Introduction to Powerboating
- Module 2 - Precision Docking & Boat Handling
- Module 3 - Open Water Boat Handling
- Module 4 - Advanced Open Water Maneuvering
Safety will always be our focus, we start with an introduction to boat terms, pre-departure checklists, and the use and location of safety equipment. This is an on-water course using a 23' Center console single outboard engine training boat. Our goal is to get you comfortable and confident with moving the vessel and understanding the dynamics of boat control. All courses are taught by Erie Islands Powerboating School Instructors who hold USCG and NSBC certifications.

Once we receive your booking we will ship your materials. All equipment will be provided.
**Step 1:** If not already done, complete a NASBLA approved online training through ODNR by [clicking here](https://ohiodnr.gov/discover-and-learn/education-training/boater-education-skills/1-meeting-boater-ed-requirements). You may also take an in person class through ODNR or Erie Islands if available prior to your class.
**Step 2:** Erie Islands Powerboating will require a waiver signed through this online booking system as well as the NSBC Waiver mentioned below. ***Both waivers must be completed before beginning your course.***
