Catch

May include Red grouper, gag grouper, mangrove snapper, grey snapper, porgies, black sea bass, hogfish, lane snapper, vermillion snapper, triggerfish, mackerel, and kingfish possible spring and fall. Keep in mind this is the shortest trip we offer with a chance for keeper grouper so it's not like the 39 hour where we can get mountains of monster grouper. We typically catch a majority of the grey snapper (grunts), porgies and seabass but you have a shot at keeper grouper, mangroves, lanes, hogfish and more!

Tackle

- We recommend 60 to 80 lb. test line, 6 oz. sinker, and 6/0 or 7/0 hook for big fish like Grouper.
- We recommend 40 to 50 lb. test line, 4 oz. sinker, and 4/0 or 5/0 hook for smaller fish like Snapper and Hogfish.
Typically for bigger grouper a 6ot reel with 60lb mainline works well and for smaller snapper and hogfish a 4000-5000 series spinning reel works well

Booking Notes

##Arrival time and helpful info

Thank you for booking your ten hour all-day fishing trip with us at Hubbard's Marina. The boat leaves promptly so please arrive 45 minutes to one hour prior to 7am which is your trip's departure time! This will allow ample time to unload your gear and anything going onto the boat into the waiting area in front of our office. Then you can head into the office to check in and get your boarding pass. Finally, after settling in the waiting area, we offer a pre-boarding seminar to cover all the details of the trip, boarding processes, and policies regarding the trip.

Also, there is a galley on board the boat so once you board the boat we will have the hot coffee, cold beer, and hot bacon ready if you're ready to eat!

##Where To Park

When you arrive one hour prior to your departure time, we recommend and strongly encourage you to park in the parking garage across the street from our office. We don't own or manage the garage, but we do have a deal with them that allows you HIGHLY DISCOUNTED parking! Instead of $30 per day to park its only $7 all day parking inside the garage. Unfortunately there is no free parking in or around Johns Pass most of the time its by a meter with a 3 hour max time and they are $1 to $1.50 every half hour so the $7 all day parking we worked out with the large parking structure across the street directly in front of our office is the best parking idea hands down when you are out on the water with us especially if you plan to spend some time around the Pass before or after your trip with us!

When you pull into the garage, the machine will spit out a ticket that ticket should be brought into our office when you are checking in and collecting your boarding passes for your trip with us. Let us know you parked in the garage and you would like to take advantage of the $7 all day parking deal.
The reservations team will then add the $7 parking fee onto your booking total and we will issue you the special parking voucher sticker and help ensure its on the right spot on your parking ticket that you got as you entered the garage.
Once checked in and you got that special sticker... we recommend you walk it back to your vehicle and place it on your dashboard so it doesn't get misplaced or lost. We don't own or manage the garage and they are not as nice as we are so we want to make sure your parking is done properly, you get the full discount and you don't get any more charges!

As long as you don't loose your ticket with that special $7 sticker at the end of your visit that day, when leaving the garage you will pull up to the exit gate and feed that ticket you got as you entered the garage with your special sticker on it into the machine and the gate opens and you are HOME FREE!

**Oversized Vehicles:**
You will need to obtain a special parking pass for your vehicle from the front counter to take advantage of the $7 parking voucher. Please park your vehicle in the shell lot located caddy corner from the marina and directly next to the Yogurt City building. As you check in, please let the reservationist know you have an oversized vehicle in the shell lot so they can give you the proper voucher needed for your discount.

## Tackle

For the grouper we would recommend 60 to 80lb test line, 6oz sinker and 7/0 hook on a 6/0 reel with low to medium gear ratio on a medium heavy rod. For the snapper species, we would recommend 40-50lb test line, 4oz sinker and 4/0 to 5/0 hook on a 4/0 high speed or even better two speed reel with a medium action rod with a sensitive tip. In addition to these rods and reels, you could bring a 4000-5000 series spinning reel for when the bite slows down or you want to use shrimp on a medium action spinning rod with a good backbone and light tip. We would use 20lb main line and 30-40lb leader with the spinning combo. for lead sizes on the spinners 3/4-1 ounce lead work well with 3/0-4/0 hooks.

## Catch

We target gag grouper, red grouper, scamp grouper, mangrove snapper and hogfish. However, this is our shortest trip with a chance for grouper so you will see many grey snapper (grunts), porgies, and seabass landed too. Especially if you use small pieces of cut squid and light tackle you will have tons of action and catch plenty of the smaller great eating fish. If you want the big fish you gotta use the big tackle and big baits like cut squid strips or whole threadfins with the tail cut off but you also need big patience as the bites even on a great trip are a little fewer and further between on the bigger smarter grouper.

___________________________________

## Bait

Cut squid and threadfins are provided on board at no extra charge. Live shrimp and live pinfish do work well but it's simply and extra option. You don't NEED it, but it does work well some days better than others. Live pinfish work well for the grouper. Live shrimp works well for the hogfish and mangroves we will cover it more in depth in your pre-boarding seminar before the trip and you can purchase it the morning of your trip after the seminar before boarding if you so choose.

pinfish must be ordered 48 hours in advanced or more ($11 per dozen)
Live shrimp can be purchased the morning of, or ahead of time either way ($10 for two doz in a bait bucket, $20 for five doz in a bait bucket)
Communal live well available on board.

We recommend 1-2 doz pinfish per angler if you so choose
We recommend 2-5 doz shrimp per angler if you so choose
