Explore the fascinating and beautiful Lake Albano by kayak on this wonderful tour. We begin with a ground lesson on paddling technique led by our guides, who are also kayak instructors.
Once on the water, you are immersed in the deep peace of the lake. Lake Albano is a unique expression of flora and fauna just a few minutes from Rome. The guide tells you the history of the lake of Castel Gandolfo and shows you some unique historical spots, such as the submerged stilt houses of the Village of the Mills and the ports of the Roman villas.
Interesting sites include the villa of the Emperor Domitian, the areas where the Romans loved watching the atrocious spectacle of naval battles (naumachia), the houses of local hermits, and the trampoline of the popes, where the old popes loved to dive down from their summer residence located in the village above the lake.
During the hottest months, from March to late October, we dock at a beach that can only be reached by kayak for a relaxing break and a refreshing swim in the pristine waters of the lake.
Throughout the tour, the instructors give you continuous lessons on paddling technique. By the end of the tour, you feel like an expert!

Honestly one of the highlights of my trip to Italy. Would do it again without thinking twice.
This is the kind of experience that makes your trip unforgettable. Not crowded, not rushed, just perfect.
Great for couples. Super relaxing and scenic — perfect for a different kind of date experience.
I loved how this tour combined light activity with cultural insight. Very well balanced.
I almost didn’t book this tour because I thought “it’s just kayaking.” I couldn’t have been more wrong. The moment we pushed off into the calm water of Lake Albano, everything slowed down. No noise, no crowds — just pure peace. And then Stefano started telling stories about ancient Rome while we were literally floating above history. It gave me chills. This wasn’t just a tour — it felt like stepping into another world.
Rome was amazing, but also intense — crowds, heat, noise everywhere. This tour saved my trip. Out on the lake, it felt like I could finally breathe. The water was perfectly still, the scenery unreal, and the vibe… just calm. When we stopped for a swim, I remember thinking: this is why I travel. Simple, real moments you can’t plan.
I booked this as a “break day” from sightseeing, but it ended up being the highlight of my entire Italy trip. No lines, no waiting, no stress — just pure enjoyment. The hidden beach stop felt like something out of a movie. We swam, laughed, and honestly didn’t want to leave.
I’ve done a lot of tours, but this one stayed with me. It wasn’t about ticking a box — it was about experiencing something authentic. Paddling over ancient ruins while hearing the history in real time… I’ll be talking about this for years
The moment we jumped into the water during the swim break — that’s when it hit me. Warm sun, cool water, complete silence around us. No boats, no crowds. Just us. It felt private, almost unreal.
There’s something powerful about being on the water, surrounded by history, and just… slowing down. This wasn’t just fun — it was meaningful.
The combination of nature and ancient history is something you rarely get in one experience. This tour delivers both in the best possible way.
Booking through PaddleBooking was quick and clear, which I loved. But the best part was how this tour made me slow down. Floating on that lake, listening to stories, I forgot about everything else.
I’ve done plenty of tours, but this one felt different. PaddleBooking made it easy to join, and once we were out there, it didn’t feel like a “tour” at all — more like an experience you discover yourself.
Everything was super straightforward on PaddleBooking, no confusion at all. And then you arrive… and it’s even better than expected. The lake is peaceful in a way that’s hard to explain.
I liked how transparent everything was on PaddleBooking — what you see is what you get. And what you get is actually even better. Calm water, amazing views, and a really genuine atmosphere.
Beautiful Amazing Kayak Tour. Tnx
