About
Explore the Tchefuncte River, where you will see Lake Pontchartrain, Recreational River, Marsh and Swamp. Our small group size average of six ensures that you get a chance to ask our local Captain all the questions you want. The quiet 4-stroke motor and smaller boat doesn’t scare wildlife away and allows us to get deeper into the swamp than you would with the large-boat operators. Learn more and see more! The Tchefuncte River is located across Lake Pontchartrain.
Why Choose our Madisonville Swamp & Marsh Tour on Tchefuncte River?
We are one of the few swamp tours in Louisiana that doesn’t feed alligators. We are a true ecotour company, and we believe in respecting the environment and being aware of the threats that face this valuable wetland region.
Our unique tour navigates through shallow waters, venturing further into the swamp than most excursions. Visit quiet and isolated areas and spot more wildlife that hasn’t been scared off by other tour companies.
Learn about the history of the area and see what life in the Bayou is all about on the main river. Then peacefully troll through small channels while looking for gators and other creatures. Glide slowly through narrow passageways surrounded by cypress and tupelo trees draped with Spanish moss.
Our boats are customized with individual seats for each guest and even boast custom cypress floors. Our maximum group size of six ensures that you can properly relax, avoid the crowds, and interact fully with your guide. We provide an authentic, educational tour that leaves you with a deeper understanding of what makes the ecosystems here so unique.

##Additional Information
Thank you for choosing Beyond the Bayou Tours!
If you are self-driving, please meet us at Canal Bank Club 18489 LA-22, Maurepas, LA 70449 . Occasionally, due to certain conditions, we will meet at our alternate location and you will be contacted via text/call/email the day before. If you have any issues finding the boat Captain, call us at 504-708-5161. If you are early, he may be guiding another tour, so please give him time to get back to the meeting point. It takes approximately 65 minutes to drive to the launch site from New Orleans. We recommend departing 75 minutes before your scheduled departure and arriving slightly early. Our tours leave on time, and we cannot wait more than a few minutes for tardy guests. If you miss the tour, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to reschedule you, and a refund will not be available.
If you booked transportation, we will pick you up at your designated pick-up location approximately 70-80 minutes before your tour time. If you aren’t there within ten minutes of the driver’s arrival, they will have to leave, and you will need to reschedule pending availability. Refunds will not be provided for no-shows.
You will tour approximately 12 miles of waterways in Louisiana wetlands. Feel free to bring whatever you want to snack on, including drinks, on the boat. Other suggestions: sunscreen, repellant, a light rain jacket, sunglasses, a hat, and money to tip the guide and driver for excellent service.
**Weather Forecast:**
You can check the weather forecast for Maurepas, LA on Fox 8 News, as they have decent forecasting. The weather here is unpredictable, and forecasts often change overnight. We operate as long as there is no lightning in the area and will let you know if we need to cancel and refund due to the weather. We always remind people it is good to be prepared in Louisiana because you may experience intense sun and heavy rain over a few hours.
**Expectations Around Wildlife:**
We’ll be traveling through a unique ecosystem where we usually encounter a variety of wildlife, including alligators, birds, turtles, and more. We never feed or bait the wildlife, and we can’t guarantee that you’ll see a specific species. We’ll be deep in nature, and what we see will be what we get on any tour.
Thanks for booking with us, and we are looking forward to showing you our unique experience!
See you soon!
