About
- One of the most spectacular sights on a night trip in Caribbean waters is to witness hundreds of tiny star-like bioluminescent plankton scintillating like a starry sky as you move through the dark water. Wave your paddle through the water in front of you, and be mesmerized by the tiny glowing specs of plankton or Dinoflagellates which are tiny unicellular marine plankton also known as fire plants.
- At the prescribed time, we meet on the beach of “Las Croabas”, a small fishing village located on the extreme northeastern tip of Puerto Rico. Your Eco Adventure guides call the group of Kayakers together for a briefing session covering basic kayak handling, rules of the road and the importance of keeping to a minimum any disturbance of the pristine environment of the bioluminescent lagoon.
- Then we launch our kayaks and head for a hidden opening in the mangroves at the northern end of the beach. Upon entering the mangroves, we follow a channel for a mile that leads to the “Laguna Grande”.
- Leaving the channel and entering the lagoon, by itself, is a breathtaking experience! A wide expanse of gentle, rippling water surrounded by mangrove forests greet the adventurer, the mountains of the “El Yunque” Rainforest tower in the distance – a profound tranquility envelopes all who enter!
- But the best is yet to come! Your guides call the flotilla together for an informative talk about several topics: this unique ecosystem, the flora, fauna and sea life that inhabits the lagoon, historical notes of interest such as the Fajardo Lighthouse, built by the Spanish in the 19th century, and of course the incredible natural phenomenon that we’re here for - the shimmering glow of bioluminescence as you dip your paddles and glide through the sparkling water – an amazingly unique experience only found in 4 other places on earth!

##Cancellation Policy
- Customers WILL NOT receive a refund for cancellation or changes to their purchase within 48 hours of the tour/activity **unless Trip Protection was purchased- then you have 24 hours **.
- Groups of 10 or more must cancel *14 DAYS PRIOR ** to their tour date **unless Trip Protection was purchased- then you have 7 DAYS PRIOR**. If groups of this size need to cancel after this time refunds will not be given. This is due to our limited spaces.
**If you call or decide on the same day or 48hrs within your reservation date to reschedule, there will be an incur of $20 per person for a last minute reschedule fee. THIS CAN APPLY ONLY IF DONE AT LEAST 4 HOURS BEFORE TOUR**-

##Arrival
- Please ARRIVE 15 MINUTES PRIOR to your tour check in time. This is to prevent any type of delays or late arrivals. Please take into consideration that traffic is very heavy if driving from San Juan to Fajardo. Once we begin the tour we will continue and depart regardless.

- All participants must be physically fit to kayak. Tours do not a have a personal guides!! Tours will have from 2 to 4 guides per trip depending on amount of guest. Guides are there to assist but they can not do the work for you. If you are unable to do the tours or for any reason or you ask to be brought back we will NOT Issue refunds.
- Transportation is NOT included.
- Be prepared to get wet from the waist down once in the kayak
- Be prepared to kayak through mangrove forest AT NIGHT IN THE DARK!!
- Please keep in mind we are NOT THE ONLY COMPANY working in this area
- THIS IS AN ECO TOUR WE GO OUT RAIN OR SHINE !!
##Restrictions/Regulations:
- NO intoxicated guest are allowed
- Pregnant women, people with heart, back, neck, wrist, arm problems or ANY medical

- Minimum age is 5 years old
- Weight limits: 450 lbs per double kayak, 225-250 lbs per person
- All participants must be physically fit to kayak. Guides are there to assist, they can not do
the work for you

##PLEASE READ: Bioluminescent Bay:
- Our bioluminescent bay is very delicate as it depends on the ecosystem that surrounds it. Due to climate changes the bioluminescent bay can reduce its fluorescent lights. This means that it will not always glow at a 100%. This all depends on natural or human causes that can affect the organisms so the glow can not be guaranteed. Our company is not responsible for these changes as we do our best to provide a unique experience for all who visit the island, specifically the bioluminescent bay.
-ODOR -As mangroves drop their seeds, bacteria help to breakdown the organic matter producing a sulphur reaction. Mangrove plants can drop up to one kilogram of organic matter (seeds and leaves etc.)This reaction creates sulphide gas which is known as the rotten-egg smell. - Tours may be subject to time changes if a minimum amount of guests have not signed up. In these cases we will combine tour times in order to take out the tour.
- Weather Cancellations - If we are forced to cancel the adventure due to the weather conditions guest will receive a full refund. We will contact you to inform you about the cancellation. If we have not cancelled the tour and you decide not to attend you will not be refunded.
