About
We are proud to share the history, culture, and natural beauty of this area with our guests!
Description:
Our certified guides will accompany you on a paddle across the calm waters of Kealakekua Bay while we share the interesting and rich Hawaiian and natural history of the area. We’ll keep an eye out for Nai’a (Hawaiian spinner dolphins) which frequent the area and sometimes put on a show, and whales (in season).
Once across the Bay and along the protected shoreline of Ka’awaloa we snorkel what is considered one of the most pristine reefs in the world and take in the abundant marine life which includes over 200 species of reef fish and sometimes turtles, eels, reef sharks, and rays.
After working up an appetite we’ll treat you to a healthy lunch and refreshments and take some time to visit Captain Cooks monument and recount his experience in Hawaii.
The tour wraps up with a leisurely paddle back across the bay. It is a magical morning and a great experience for ocean lovers of any age.
Details
Check in 7:00am : in order to make this a great experience for everyone, we ask that you please arrive on time as we want to make sure that we can maximize your time on and in the water and we don’t want other guests to have to wait
At the shop we will set you up for a great day on the water. After a quick check in process which includes reviewing Conservations District Rules and providing an orientation for the adventure, we outfit you with snorkel gear and your’ll drive yourself down to Kealaekua Bay where your guide will be waiting on with all of the equipment, lunch and drinks. We will provide a quick safety talk and review the paddle plan before beginning our paddle across the Bay. Kealakekua Bay was a cultural center for the Hawaiian people and we like to share some stories and history as we paddle the protected waters. On the Captain Cook’s monument side of the Bay, Ka’awaloa, we will land the kayaks and make our way over to the monument where we will make our spot and access the snorkeling. After a quick overview you’ll have plenty of time to snorkel and explore. When you’re ready for a break we provide a great local lunch from our partners at The Coffee Shack and usually have time for a second snorkel and some talk story before we begin our paddle back across the bay. The tour wraps up around 11:30, but the memory will last a lifetime.
Booking Notes
**Check-in:** 7:00AM. It is a good idea to give yourself a little extra time if you are traveling from north of Kailua-Kona.
**What to bring:**
- We are lucky to have an abundance of sunny days on the Kona Coast, for that reason we highly recommend wearing reef safe sunscreen or a rashguard (surf shirt) that has uv/protection. We are exposed to the sun for a good portion of the tour.
- If you have water shoes or sandals it is a good idea to wear them, the area where we land is a rocky shelf and it can be slippery.
- If you have a waterproof camera don't forget it.
**What it includes:**
Certified Guide, All kayaking and snorkel gear, lunch, water (you keep the reusable aluminum water bottle).
**Important:** After checking in at our store in Kealakekua, you will be providing your own transportation to the launch site in Kealakekua Bay. Guides will be awaiting you at the launch site with the outfitted kayaks. We will be providing an orientation including directions to the launch site during the check in.
