Schedule
The Open Water Courses consist of 3 half days of practical training.
**Day 1** - 12 - 5pm | Classroom learning and practical training conducted in confined water
**Day 2** - 8:45m - 1:30pm | 2 open water dives
**Day 3** - 8:45am - 1:30pm | 2 open water dives | Dive ends at 1:30pm. Allow shop time after 3rd day to recap and fill out your Log Book.

About
Our Open Water Course gives you a worldwide certification that permits you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 metres (note that depth limitations apply to students 10yrs - 15yrs). The open water course can be delivered at flexible times during your stay on Lord Howe Island. We offer a personalised course, where numbers are kept to a minimum, allowing more time with your Instructor.
A minimum of 3 days is required. You will complete your Open Water Course theory online with PADI's interactive online eLearning.

- Due to limited internet access on Lord Howe Island, students must complete all theory components online prior to arrival.

Requirements
- You must complete a Diver Medical Participant Questionnaire prior to beginning the course. You may be required to seek a physician's approval if you are predisposed to, or have any of the conditions listed.
- You must be able to swim for 200 metres unassisted.
- You must be 10 years of age (for students 10-15 years age a Junior Open Water Certification is issued with restricted depths). This meets NSW standards
- Parent or guardian permission is required for all students under 18 years
Due to our geographical isolation, it is highly recommend that you complete a Medical Examination (in the Australian standards dive medical AS4005). It is recommended you complete this prior to arrival, however it can be done on the Island with prior arrangement. Please note that anyone with a history of asthma will NOT pass a diving medical prior to undertaking (and passing) a bronchial provocation test (BPT). The Lord Howe Island Family Practice are unable to provide this test on island and so it should be arranged prior to travel.

##Check In
**Day 1**: Please arrive by 12pm. Day 1 is 12-5pm.
**Day 2 & 3**: Check in at 8:45am. Dive ends at 1:30pm. Allow shop time after 3rd day to recap and fill out your Log Book.

We are very pleased to hear that you are undertaking your PADI Open Water course with us! Shortly, we will email you the online theory to begin your course. Please let us know if you don’t receive it within 24hrs so we can chase it up with PADI. Please ensure that you upload your photo to your PADI profile.
We will provide you with a Log Book once we begin the practical part of the course so that you can keep a record of your dives. If you have any queries at all please don’t hesitate to contact us via email or the phone number listed below.
Upon your arrival, kindly drop in to our dive shed located on Lagoon Road (beach side) so we can complete paperwork and discuss your training schedule. Please also bring a copy of your Diver Medical Participant Questionnaire that shows you are fit to dive, or alternatively email it to us. We are open from 0830 - 1700 every day. We intend to begin your course as scheduled, so if you don’t get a chance to see us beforehand, please be ready to begin at this time.
