About
This is the first exciting step in your scuba diving journey! Learning to dive is easier than you think and what better place to do it than the amazing South West WA!
The Open Water Dive course is designed to teach you the basic dive theory, about the dive equipment and how to safely plan a dive. These things are then put into practice during our small group in-water sessions to ensure you have the skills required to be a comfortable and competent diver. At the end of the course you will be certified to dive to 18m.
This globally recognized certification program is the best way to begin your lifelong adventures as a certified scuba diver. During your course you will visit some of the best dive sites the South West has to offer and see some incredible marine life! Endless scuba diving adventure are waiting for you and this is where it all begins!
Requirements
- Competent swimmer
- Age 10+
- Participants 10 - 15 years old will earn the Junior Open Water Certification
- Participants under 18 years old require a parent / guardian to complete application and liability form

Before the Course
- Create an SDI account (https://portal.tdisdi.com/register)
- Complete the e-learning and final exam
- Have the medical form signed by a GP (if applicable)
- Obtain dive quality mask, snorkel, and fins (visit us in store for recommendations)
What to Bring
- Mask, snorkel and fins
- Any of your own dive gear you wish to use
- Bathers, towel and warm clothes
- Hat and sunscreen
- Water bottle, lunch and snacks
- GP signed medical form (if applicable)
- Participants under 18 must have liability forms signed by a parent / guardian

Congratulations on taking the first steps towards starting your dive certification!
Before the course starts there is some online learning for you to complete. Please create an account on the TDISDI website here: https://portal.tdisdi.com/register? and once this is done please let me know this is done and I can assign you the code for the e-learning. You can then login to your SDI account and enrol by going to 'My e-learning' and 'pending enrolments'. Happy learning!
We will send you another email with more information closer to the time. Please bring with you, bathers, towel, warm clothes and a change of clothes, and ensure you complete the online learning content prior to arriving. Let us know if you have any questions.
**What to bring**
You will also need a mask, snorkel and set of fins suitable for Scuba Diving. These are available for hire otherwise, you can make use of a generous 10% off discount whilst on your course. The team here at Swan Dive will be more than happy to help you select the best equipment for you.
**Requirements**
Before coming in for your course, please have a read through the SDI medical form. If you answer yes to any questions on this form you will need a doctor to sign the medical prior to coming in for your dive. Please ensure you read this far enough in advance to allow for making an appointment if necessary.

Cancellation Policy
All trips are dependent on weather conditions and minimum numbers met. Swan Dive reserves the right to cancel or postpone a tour, charter or service if minimum numbers to run a tour isn't met or if the weather conditions make it unsafe or unpleasant. Swan Dive is not financially responsible for delays, cancellations or any other causes that this affects in. In these circumstances, or where customer changes are requested more than 14 days prior to the commencement of the course, customers will receive a refund, excluding e-learning fee ($300), or a full credit to reschedule the course. Within 14 days of the course commencing, rescheduling will incur a $200 fee and cancellations will receive a 50% refund. Within 48 hours, and no-shows will not receive a refund or credit. Please contact us by phone to cancel or rebook. To request dives not completed during your course to be rebooked to a later date will incur a $200 fee each time. Full payment for the course must be made at least 14 days prior to commencement.
