Come aboard one of our ocean boats and set off to sea in search of Alaska’s second-largest commercial fish. Nearing the Alaska Peninsula, these fish tend to gather in large schools and are a ton of fun to fish for. There is an unlimited amount of cod for each person to catch, and our charters are equipped with all bait and tackle needs as well as the option to fillet any and all catches.

On days that halibut are not able to be fished for, the Pacific Cod are a great alternative and are easily one of the most fun catches here in Alaska.

Always bring rain gear even if the weather says otherwise. Bait and tackle equipment are provided as well as the option to fillet your catches.

Please plan to meet your captain at either 6:30AM or 1:30PM (based on booked time) at slip P13 and P14 which is located off of Ramp #4. When driving onto the Homer spit we are 0.2 miles past Freight Dock Road and the small boat launch sign (do not turn on Freight Dock Road, continue past it). There will be bathrooms located right by Ramp #4 and there is free gravel parking before and after the bathrooms.
Your captain typically will call or text you the night before to reconfirm your trip, usually no later than 7PM. This way you will have their number for your next days charter, so if you have any questions or need to reach them. But please note that if you do not hear from them, no worries. This is your confirmation of your trip.
You will want to plan to bring your fishing license, food and beverage, warm clothes, rain gear (always good to have just in case), waterproof foot attire is recommended (i.e. hiking boots, shorty boots, rubber boots, etc..) and any other items you wish to have on your charter. If you are concerned about seasickness, you may want to plan to take Dramamine, we recommend the night before and the morning of. Or another option, you can get a prescription sea sickness patch prescribed from your doctor ahead of time (just let them know you are doing an ocean trip and worried about sea sickness) and can use that instead of Dramamine.
Included in your charter is all bait, tackle, and gear. As well as the filleting of any fish you catch on your charter. Your fish will be given to you in a bag, so we recommend bringing a cooler or tote to transport your fish to the processor or home.
We often have guests inquire about gratuities. If you are satisfied with the quality of services and are pleased with your day and your crew here is a suggested amount, Salt captains-$30-60 per person per day and Deckhand -$15-30 per person per day.
