About
This training course will cover in-depth the whole of the Paddle UK Coastal Sea Kayak Award syllabus. Dartmouth provides the perfect location for this award and we will be able to look at tidal planning and how this affects your journey in the real world. We will also look at the skills required to be confident and in control paddling in swell, with winds up to and including force 4, paddling and planning for how weather, the tide and the features of the location we choose will impact our paddle.

**IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION!**
- There is no parking at the meeting point
- It is likely that you will need to use the park and ride service if parking in Dartmouth
- ALLOW PLENTY OF TIME! There are other customers in your group so we can’t wait for you if you’re late
Dartmouth is a super popular destination and parking is very limited in the town. To ensure a relaxing experience please leave yourself plenty of time to park. There are more parking options on the Torbay side of the river but these require leaving time to use one of the ferries. On Sunday mornings the park and ride starts later, at 09:30 so consider parking on the Torbay side of the river or for half-day trips arriving early to get a space in the Pay and Display in Dartmouth town centre (4 hours max stay). All parking options require a short walk, consider dropping off others in your group at the meeting point before parking your car.

**PARKING** (Dartmouth side of the river):
1. Best Option: **Park and Ride**, Dartmouth, TQ6 0JL
NOTE: Buses run every 10 mins from 08:00 (09:30 on Sundays) 500m walk on the flat to our meeting point from where the bus drops you off
**PARKING** (Torbay side of the river):
1. Long Wood Car Parking. Noss TQ6 0EA
NOTE: park on left BEFORE the traffic lights, the path starts by the bridge over the railway. Follow the signs through the woods and then down the road to the Higher Ferry which runs every 15 mins
2. Darthaven Marina Car Park, Kingswear TQ6 0SG
NOTE walk to passenger Ferry which runs every 15 mins

**WHAT TO WEAR:**
- For hot days, shorts and a t-shirt are probably all you’ll need
- IMPORTANT! Please also bring a spare set of warm clothes (not jeans as cotton does not keep you warm if it gets wet). On cold days and in Spring/Autumn/Winter please bring additional layers of warm outdoor clothes.
- A pair of shoes or beach shoes that you don't mind getting wet
**MORE INFO:**
- There is plenty of dry storage in the kayaks for anything you want to bring with you, like spare clothes and your drinks, lunch and snacks for the course day
- You can leave bags and a change of clothes in our store at the meeting point.
- We will give you all the technical kit you’ll need including a waterproof, breathable Kayak Jacket, Waterproof Trousers, Dry bags for phones and spare clothes. Dry suits and helmets if needed.
- There is a public toilet at our meeting point, which has disabled access.
