Booking Notes
##You're all booked! Now what??
We hope you're as excited as we are! We can't wait to help you #GetYourLazyOn. Here are some tips to make your journey as smooth as possible:
##Important videos
Please take a moment to view [this important 90-second video](https://youtu.be/BWj3-B8hpzw?si=8qdRkI9yBs6Gi5SB) about safe paddling on the Bow!
Here's a [one-minute video] (https://youtu.be/qQP7Yn0eEcA?si=iwydthCcnoSLBQzs) featuring Henry, the Lazy Day mascot, on what your journey will look like.
##Transportation tips
### PLEASE NOTE: THE SHUTTLE RUNS BEFORE YOUR FLOAT, NOT AFTER
If you've booked our convenient pre-float shuttle service (available July long weekend through Labour Day), drop a vehicle in our free parking lot at the Lazy Day shop (rear, Calgary Curling Club). If you're driving your own car, you're welcome to drop it at the Lazy Day shop (space permitting) and take a taxi, Uber or second vehicle to the launch point at West Baker Park.
## Parking
If the Lazy Day parking lot is full, space may be available at the adjacent public lot CPA #59 which is immediately east of the Calgary Curling Club at 200 Memorial Drive NW.
## Credit card and ID
Kindly bring the physical credit card used for your booking as well as your government-issued ID.
## Waiver
Please sign your online waivers prior to check-in, and forward this confirmation to other members of your party. This is by far our biggest bottleneck at check-in; filling your waivers ahead of time will get you floating MUCH faster!
##What to bring
- Snacks and sunscreen
- Sturdy shoes are recommended for getting in and out of the rafts
- Rain gear in case there are sprinkles
- Plan to have a picnic either on the water or by stopping at one of the many parks along the way (but be sure to keep an eye on your raft and possessions as guests have had things go missing).
##Experience requirements
The Bow River is classified as Level 1, which is defined by the American Whitewater Association as "fast-moving water with shallow spots and small waves. Few obstructions, all obvious and easily missed with little training." It is suitable for beginner rafters; there are no whitewater sections to deal with. HOWEVER, it is necessary that you have basic paddling skills before you set off on your float. If you do not have paddling experience, you must let us know. We’ll also go through a safety session with you prior to you heading down the river.
##How wet will I get?
Unless you jump in the river, it's unlikely you'll get too wet; most customers stay perfectly dry throughout their float. However, please be aware that some of the 8, 10, and 12-person rafts are self-bailing, meaning that small holes in the bottom of the raft let water pass through (meant for whitewater conditions when large volumes of water enter the raft) and there may be a few centimetres of water in the bottom. **Therefore, your feet and gear may get wet**, and you may wish to use a dry bag and/or phone case to keep things dry.
##IN CASE OF EMERGENCY: CALL 911
Should you encounter an emergency while on the water such as an overturned raft, a collision with bridge supports or other obstructions, medical emergencies, etc., PLEASE CALL 911. The Bow River is well-patrolled by emergency services and this is the fastest way to get assistance. Lazy Day Raft Rentals has NO ability to provide assistance while you are on the water.
