- This is our popular sunset cruise! On this cruise we see the Portland city bridges, Portland’s historical floating homes, watch the sunset over the city, and see wildlife all around the Ross Island natural estuary. After dark, the Portland city lights from the water is a sight to be seen!
- Regardless of the direction of travel, and no matter where we go, the Willamette River is full of natural beauty and wildlife! Cruising in either direction you will see some of Oregon’s beautiful nature in the city, historical landmarks, famous movie locations, and even some old movie props. Most people do not know that several major Hollywood movies have been filmed on and near the banks of the Willamette River!

I’m Captain Charles Arnell, the Head Captain and founder of Portland River Tours. As a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Master Merchant Mariner, I’ve spent my life around the water and have a deep passion for the river and everything connected to it.
Over the years, I’ve created memorable experiences on the Willamette River and built a team of five hand-selected, U.S. Coast Guard-certified captains who share the same passion for the water, safety, and exceptional guest experiences.
Our captains bring a wealth of boating, navigation, and local river knowledge to every tour. Whether you’re joining us for a sightseeing cruise, private charter, or special celebration, our goal is to make your time on the Willamette River safe, relaxing, and unforgettable.
