**What is supplied:**
Sydney Kayak supplies the kayaks and kayaking equipment, Breakfast and
Sunscreen.
**What to bring:**
You should bring water and a change of clothes for after the paddle in case you
get wet. It is rare for anyone to fall in but you can get damp from paddle splash.
You can bring phones and Cameras but remember there is a risk as they don’t
float and usually don’t work if dropped in water. For anything with a touch
screen it is a good idea to have a small cloth to wipe drops from wet fingers off
the screen as drops on the screen can be sensed as a finger touch and make use
difficult.
Anything you don’t want to get wet should be in a zip lock bag as a minimum.
There is very little room in a Kayak so back packs are best left behind unless
very small.
**What to wear:**
Paddling is a water sport so expect to get splashed.
Your feet will get wet so water friendly footwear is strongly recommended.
The clothing Golden Rules - your kayak clothing should:
- NO COTTON or DENIM - when they get wet, they do not dry and
remain cold and heavy!
- When wet, your clothing must stay warm and dry quickly!
- The key concept to bear in mind is layering. Several thin garments will
keep you just as warm as a single thicker one, and are much more
versatile. Remember you’ll need to think about staying cool as much as
staying warm, and you can always add or subtract layers.
- A light Nylon Jacket will keep out wind and water. Fleeces are OK.
Avoid heavy Jackets.
**What to expect:**
You will be paddling on the beautiful Sydney Harbour.
There can be a lot of boat traffic so we can sometimes spend a few minutes
waiting for Ferries.
This is an easy paddle of about an hour each way depending on conditions
**Weather cancellation:**
In the event of bad weather (rain or high winds), a decision will be made the
evening 24 hours before the paddle. If you don’t receive a call or txt its going
ahead.
**Directions:**
Quibaree Park is on Lavender Street Lavender bay and can be accessed by car as
well as being a short walk from North Sydney train station and Milsons point
Ferry.
There are two morning Kayak tour groups leaving from Lavender bay.
We use double kayaks, so look for double kayaks (not the singles) on the little
beach to the west of the boat ramp. See pictures below.

**Parking:**
There is 2 hour free parking in Lavender St which starts at 8.30 am. As we are
usually back around 10.00 to 10.30 this means you can park without worrying
about any parking issues. However, if you are late we may not be back by 10.30
when the rangers start issuing tickets so please arrive before 7.15
**Important Note:**
We are on a tight timeframe for this paddle due to Café
bookings and parking restrictions so we ill leave on time. If you are late we will
leave without you.
To ensure you get to enjoy your paddle, and for the convenience of your fellow
paddlers please arrive early.
