This seasonal kayaking adventure is possible only when the Danube reaches a high enough water level. When the conditions are right, water flows through the forest, creating narrow channels surrounded by trees and dense vegetation.
For a limited period each year, this hidden world becomes accessible by kayak, offering an experience that feels far removed from the city.
What Is the Belgrade Amazon?
The Belgrade Amazon is a seasonal network of natural waterways located upstream from Belgrade along the Danube River.
When the river level rises, water enters the surrounding forest and creates narrow channels between the trees. Fallen branches, dense vegetation, and calm water make the area feel completely different from the open Danube.
The waterways disappear again when the water level drops, which means this experience is available only during specific periods of the year.
Your Adventure Begins in Zemun
The tour starts at our Kayak Center in historic Zemun at:
Kej Oslobođenja 11a, Zemun
Before departure, you'll receive all the equipment you need:
• Single or tandem kayak
• Paddle
• Certified life jacket
• Waterproof dry bag for your phone and valuables
You can leave your extra belongings safely in our lockers. Changing rooms and restrooms are also available at the kayak center.
Boat Transfer to the Hidden Channels
This adventure is different from our other kayak tours because the first part of the journey takes place aboard our catamaran support boat.
After a short kayaking and safety briefing, we board the boat and travel approximately 6 kilometers upstream along the Danube.
The boat transfer allows us to reach the entrance to the flooded forest without having to paddle against the river current.
Once we reach the area, we launch the kayaks directly from the boat and begin exploring the hidden waterways.
Paddle Through the Belgrade Amazon
As soon as you enter the flooded forest, the atmosphere changes completely.
The city disappears behind you.
Trees rise directly from the water, sunlight filters through the branches, and the sound of birds replaces the noise of traffic.

A Tour for Active Paddlers
The Belgrade Amazon Kayak Adventure is designed for guests who are comfortable with a longer and more active kayaking experience.
The support boat takes us approximately 6 kilometers upstream. After launching the kayaks, we paddle through the flooded forest and continue downstream along the Danube toward our kayak center in Zemun.
The kayaking section covers approximately 14 kilometers in total.
Because of the distance and duration, a moderate to good level of fitness is recommended.
Previous kayaking experience is helpful, but it is not required. Our guides will provide instructions and safety information before we enter the water.
Swim, Relax, and Enjoy Nature
During the adventure, we make stops to rest, take photographs, observe wildlife, and enjoy the natural surroundings.
On warm days, and when water and weather conditions are suitable, there may also be an opportunity to swim in the Danube.
The pace of the tour is designed to give you enough time to enjoy the experience rather than simply focus on covering the distance.
